Letter by Stefan Humiecki, the Voivode of Podolia, to Adam Sieniawski concerning the Jewish self-government of Podolia

The Voivode of Podolia informs Sieniawski that because of the violation of Sieniawski’s command and the admission of Szmujł, the rabbi of Żwaniec, to the sessions, the results of the Jewish Assembly in Satanów are not quite positive and that is why Humiecki stipulated in the Crown Treasury that the order of payment for the Ruthenian Jewish self-government should not be accepted. At the same time he gave instructions that the order of payment for the Podolian Jewish self-government, amounting to 8500 złp, which included reductions for excessively burdened properties, especially Sieniawski’s estates, to be sent to the Treasury. In the postscript he informs that his commissioner was not allowed to listen to the accounts of the former Marshal of the Podolia, Icyk, and proposes a compromise solution, i.e. the settlement of Icyk’s and Jewish self-government’s grievances before the court of "friends".
